Buganda Kingdom, Kabaka Foundation forge Alliance to Boost Health services

Oweekitiibwa Cotilda Nakate Kikomeko (Minister of social services) met with Omukungu Kaggwa Edward (Chief Executive Officer of Kabaka Foundation) and the health teams of both Kabaka Foundation and Ministry of Health Buganda Government to plan on how best they can boost the health sector in Buganda Kingdom.

On resolution; was determination to widen the partner/ Sponsor network to raise more funds that can be used to deliver health services inclusive of health education, NCD’S awareness, testing and treatment to secure a health Nation

Oweekitiibwa Cotilda Nakate Kikomeko emphasized prioritizing the Health sector at any chance of extending services to the communities to ensure prosperity as development is brought manned a healthy Population.

Omukungu Kaggwa Ndagala during the session; called upon all programme implementers to always serve above self and avoid substandard work that downplays the Kabaka’s standards. Moreso, emphasized partnerships and collaborations in health service delivery as health services have a higher demand.

Buganda Bumu North America Convention 2025

Kabaka Foundation Tubeere Balamu Health Campaign Kyaddondo

The two-day Tubeere Balamu Kyaddondo camp has come to a successful end, despite being hit by heavy rains. The camp, which was officiated by the Katikkiro of Buganda Oweek. Charles Peter Mayiga, was honored by the presence of Omulangira David Wassajja, who delivered the Kabaka’s message.

Notable stakeholders who attended the event included:
– Oweek. Christopher Bwanika, Attorney General of the Buganda Kingdom
– Oweek. Cotilda Nakate, Minister for Social Services, Buganda Kingdom
– Archbishop Emeritus Augustine Kasujja of the Catholic Church
– Bishop Hanington Mutebi, Assistant Bishop of Kampala
– Bishop Tamale Katumba of the West Buganda Diocese and new Trustee of the Foundation
– Supreme Mufti Mohammed Galabuzi
– Hon. Balimwezo Ronald Nsubuga, MP Nakawa East 
– Godfrey Ssebana, CEO of Diamond Trust Bank.
Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga, emphasized the importance of prioritizing health and regular medical check-ups. He encouraged everyone to prioritize their health over unnecessary expenditures on things like alcohol, parties, and other indulgences. The Katikkiro also urged attendees to adopt healthy lifestyles, including a balanced diet, regular physical exercise, and adequate water and rest.
The Executive Director of the Kabaka Foundation, Hon. Kaggwa Eddie, thanked all partnering institutions for their collaboration, which made the camp possible. During the camp, thousands received free medical services, including:

– Health education
– Treatment for various conditions
– Screening
– Safe male circumcision
– Eye and dental services
– Psychotherapy
– HIV/AIDS testing and treatment
– Management of non-communicable diseases (NCDs). The camp also conducted a blood donation drive on both days.
The camp was officially closed by the Kyaddondo county chief; Kaggo Hajji Ahmed Magandaazi.

Notably, the Kabaka Foundation has been conducting similar camps across Buganda, with the goal of covering all 18 counties. The Tubeere Balamu Community Health campaign is a response to the Kabaka’s commitment to providing accessible and affordable healthcare services to those in need.

Kaggwa Ndagala, Executive Director of the Kabaka Foundation, emphasized the importance of cooperatives and sustainable agriculture. The meeting also highlighted the DREEM hub project’s model farm in Busiro, aimed at providing hands-on training for farmers, aligning with the foundation’s mission to support poverty alleviation, education, and cultural preservation in Buganda.

Promoting The Productive Use Of Solar Energy In Buganda

The Kabaka Foundation participated in a hands-on training on the productive use of solar energy organized by Heifer International Uganda & Joint Energy and Environment Projects (JEEP) and JEEP offices on Gayaza. During the training, we explored and learnt from clean innovations at JEEP like solar powered dryers, cold storage, irrigation systems and several clean cooking solutions.

Advocating for these sustainable practices in Buganda will boost agricultural production, prevent spoilage and enhance food security while preserving the earth!

Kabaka Foundation Tubeere Balamu Health Campaign Ssingo

Today, we’re wrapping up the health camp with a closing ceremony officiated by the ministry of local government Buganda Kingdom,Owek Joseph kawuki representing the Kabaka.
Yesterday’s official opening ceremony was graciously officiated by Omulangira David Wassajja, who also delivered the Kabaka’s message to the people of Ssingo.
We’re glad to report that the health camp has been a huge success, with overwhelming turnout and efficient healthcare services provided by our team of over 400 health workers from 37 partnering institutions. The weather has been kind to us, with light sunshine and no rain so far. We’re grateful to all our partners and for the support and look forward to continuing to serve our communities.
